Netflix is finally making the service affordable for its customers in Kenya and across Sub-Saharan Africa. The streaming giant has announced new price charges for the region that it says are taking effect immediately.

Recently, Netflix announced a significant price drop for its subscribers in Kenya and across the Sub-Saharan African region. The new price changes aim to ensure that Netflix subscribers in the region get value for their money while expanding the platform’s reach to more households.

Mobile Plan
The mobile plan, which was initially priced at KSh.300, now costs KSh.200, making it more affordable for people who primarily use their mobile phones to stream content. This change is a significant boost to mobile phone users in the region who form the majority of internet users.
Basic Plan
The basic plan, which was initially priced at Ksh.700, will now cost Ksh.300. This plan allows subscribers to access Netflix content on one device at a time in standard definition.
Standard Plan
The standard plan, which is the most popular plan, has also seen a significant price reduction from Ksh.1,100 to Ksh.700. This plan allows subscribers to watch on two devices simultaneously in high definition.
Premium Plan
The premium plan, which initially cost Ksh.1,450, now costs Ksh.1,100. This plan allows subscribers to watch on four devices simultaneously in Ultra HD or 4K quality.
New and Existing Members
New members who sign up will see the new prices for the plans immediately. Existing members will receive an email notification as well as an update within the Netflix app 30 days before the new prices are applied to their accounts.
Netflix’s Vision

Sub-Saharan African Region
For the Sub-Saharan African region, the mobile plan will cost $2.99 down from $3.99, while the basic plan will cost $3.99, down from $7.99. For the standard plan, subscribers will pay $7.99, down from $9.99, while for the premium plan, they will pay $9.99 down from $11.99. These price changes are a significant boost for Netflix subscribers in the region who will now have access to a broad range of content at an affordable price.
