What is Tumechoka.net? Netizens Flock to Impeach President Ruto and His Deputy

You may have seen the website Tumechoka.net floating about the interwebs lately and wondered what exactly it is, well it is a website that was created by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party to collect signatures to remove President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua from office. The website went live on July 11, 2023, and as of July 12, 2023, it had allegedly already collected over 1 million signatures.

The website is named after the Swahili phrase “tumechoka,” which means “we are tired.” The phrase is a reference to the widespread dissatisfaction with the current government, which is seen as corrupt and incompetent.

To sign the petition, users must provide their ID number, name, county, ward, email address, and phone number.

Once a user signs the petition, their signature is added to a database. Those who would rather sign the form manually can download it and submit the filled document to Azimio offices in their respective wards.

The Tumechoka.net website has been met with mixed reactions. Some people have praised the website for giving Kenyans a voice, while others have criticized it for being a political stunt.

It is unclear whether the Tumechoka.net website will be successful in removing President Ruto and his deputy from office. However, the website has certainly sparked a debate about the future of Kenya.
