In a long awaited move, file-sharing platform WeTransfer has announced that its links will no longer expire. This marks a significant departure from its traditional model, which has relied on link expiration to manage storage and bandwidth.
The decision comes after years of user feedback and requests for longer-lasting links. WeTransfer has acknowledged the frustration caused by expired links, particularly when sharing large files or collaborating on projects.
“We’ve listened to your feedback, and we understand your concerns,” the WeTransfer Social Team stated in a heartfelt message. “Now, you can hold onto those transfers a little longer, extending the expiration date up to 30 days in the WeTransfer mobile app.”
While the company has not disclosed the exact technical changes behind this new feature, it is expected to involve adjustments to storage management and bandwidth allocation.
This move is likely to be welcomed by users who frequently share large files and collaborate on projects. It could also lead to increased usage of WeTransfer, especially among businesses and professionals who rely on the platform for file sharing.
