TikTok, Aleph Holdings and Wowzi Partner to Boost Business Advertising in Kenya

TikTok has announced a strategic partnership with Aleph Holdings and Wowzi to strengthen its business advertising operations in Kenya, where the platform boasts over 10 million users. The collaboration unveiled under the TikTok for Business initiative in Nairobi, aims to enhance local sales and creator support in the region.

Carl Jordan, TikTok Head of Sales, Global Business Solutions, emphasized the platform’s commitment to connecting businesses with their audiences: “TikTok for Business is helping businesses to connect with their audiences on the platform and TikTok for business enables this connection.”

The partnership structure divides responsibilities between the two partners: Aleph Holdings will manage local sales and operations, while Wowzi will focus on creator management, providing support and equipment for content creation. This dual approach aims to strengthen both the advertising infrastructure and content quality on the platform.

The announcement comes as TikTok continues to show strong global performance, with Statista reporting revenue of Ksh 144.9 billion ($1.12 billion) from worldwide users in the fourth quarter of 2023. While the platform has established creator funds in the US and other markets, paying content creators between $0.02-0.04 per 1,000 views, similar monetization frameworks for the Kenyan market are still under consideration.

Stephen Newton, Aleph Holding’s Regional Managing Director for Sub Saharan Africa, highlighted the benefits of local currency transactions and direct access to TikTok insights for businesses. Meanwhile, Wowzi Co-founder and President Mike Otieno emphasized the partnership’s role in nurturing Kenya’s creative talent: “There is so much incredible creative talent emerging from Kenya, and TikTok provides a unique platform for these creators to express themselves.”

The initiative aims to empower Kenyan advertisers with advanced digital ad formats and local support while creating new opportunities for local creators to expand their presence on the platform.
