Mobile operator Safaricom had the fastest median mobile download speed in Kenya at 22.74 Mbps during Q2 2022 a report has concluded.
“In measuring the consistency of each operator’s performance, we found that Safaricom had the highest Consistency in Kenya during Q2 2022, with 82.4% of results showing at least a 5 Mbps minimum download speed and 1 Mbps minimum upload speed.” The report states.
On fixed broadband, Faiba had the fastest median download speed (24.94 Mbps) and highest Consistency (50.6%) in Kenya during Q2 2022.
“Calculating median latency for top fixed broadband providers in Kenya during Q2 2022, Faiba had the lowest latency at 7 ms.”
Taking the runner-up spot was AccessKenya with a speed score of 9.04 and a consistency score of 20.1%. Telkom’s consistency score dropped from 20.4% in Q1 to 18.9% coming in 4th in terms of speed (7.47).
The report by Ookla dubbed “Q2 Market Report on the state of Kenya’s mobile and fixed networks” ranked Mombasa as home to the fastest mobile and fixed broadband download speeds at 23.59 Mbps and 12.03 Mbps, respectively, during Q2 2022.
