Meta Reports Strong Q4 2024 Performance with 21% Revenue Growth and AI Expansion Plans

Meta has announced robust financial results for Q4 2024, with revenue reaching $48.3 billion, marking a 21% increase year over year. The technology giant’s total earnings for the full year rose by 22% to $16.5 billion, demonstrating sustained growth across its family of apps.

The company reported significant user growth, with daily active users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads reaching 3.3 billion in December 2024, a 5% increase from the previous year. Meta’s financial position remains strong, with liquid assets of $77.81 billion and a free cash flow of $52.1 billion for 2024.

In a Facebook post following the earnings release, CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined ambitious plans for 2025, particularly in artificial intelligence. “I expect this to be the year when a highly intelligent and personalised AI assistant reaches more than one billion people, and I expect Meta AI to be that leading AI assistant,” Zuckerberg stated.

The company’s Threads platform has shown promising growth, achieving 320 million monthly active users with one million daily sign-ups. Meta’s workforce expanded by 10% to 74,067 employees, while maintaining a long-term debt of $28.8 billion as of December 31, 2024.

Looking ahead, Meta projects Q1 2025 revenue between $39.5-41.8 billion, representing an 8-15% year-over-year growth. The company continues to monitor regulatory challenges in the European Union and the United States that could impact its operations and financial performance.

Zuckerberg expressed optimism about the company’s future relationships with government bodies, particularly under the new U.S. administration. However, Meta acknowledges the need to navigate ongoing regulatory landscapes carefully as it pursues its growth and innovation agenda.
