Huawei Unveils 1st Ever Mass Market Tri-Fold Smartphone: The Mate XT Ultimate Design

Huawei has made groundbreaking advancements in the smartphone industry with the launch of its revolutionary Mate XT Ultimate Design. As the world’s first mass market tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT offers a unique and versatile user experience.

The Huawei Mate XT ultimate design was recently unveiled in China and will cost $2,800. While we have seen such devices in the past like the recently teased Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2, those are concepts that aren’t available for purchase.

Huawei says the phone has so far received over 2.7 million pre-orders. We don’t know much about the specs on the device yet but the most interesting spec is def the large 10.2-inch display which folds 2 times, the screen is a flexible LTPO OLED display (when folded) that turns into a 7.9-inch screen when folded once, and a 6.4-inch screen when folded twice. The smartphone’s innovative tri-fold design is supported by a dual-hinge mechanism that allows the display to bend both inward and outward, The foldable OLED screen offers 3K resolution.

Despite being such a large device, the Mate XT Ultimate Design remains relatively lightweight at 298g, with a thickness of just 3.6mm when unfolded and 12.8mm when folded.

It is equipped with 16GB of RAM, runs on HarmonyOS 4.2 out-of-the-box, and comes in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.

The phone sports a large 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens on the back. The inner display also sports an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Rumour says it is powered by a Kirin 9010 chipset. It gets its juice from a 5,600mAh battery which can get juiced up fast via a 66W wired charger and 50W wireless charging.
