How to Use Apple’s FaceTime on Android

During its WWDC keynote on Monday, Apple revealed that FaceTime is going to be available on the web so Android and Windows PC users can call in, rekindling their face-to-face friendships with their long-lost iPhone friends.

This was a huge and mostly unexpected move as Apple has so far been keen not to let Android users into their ecosystem, until now, FaceTime has only been available on iOS and Mac devices.

The introduction of the new web feature will definitely make it easier to keep in touch with family and friends who use iPhones. Our texts will still appear in green (no iMessage for Android), but we can’t have everything.

If you have used Zoom calls, which since the onset of the novel Coronavirus I assume you’ve at least had to pop into one, you’ll be happy to hear that the new facetime web feature works just like that.

From the interface new grid view option to creating links for meetings that can then be shared with participants ahead of time without the use of an app, it is a very familiar service.

A release date hasn’t been announced, but the FaceTime web feature will most likely be released in conjunction with iOS 15.
