Wondering how to get verified on Twitter? Everybody wants that coveted blue checkmark! Well, back in December 2020, the popular microblogging platform announced that it would be reviving its controversial verification process early this year along with brand-new guidelines for users seeking out the blue badge, while the process is still not available, the new guidelines are.
Twitter’s New Verification Policy
Twitter had asked users to provide feedback on what the requirements should be for the coveted blue checkmark, now, as part of the new policy, verification will no longer necessitate a profile bio or a header image as the public considered the requirement “too restrictive.”
Additionally, Twitter changed has changed the minimum follow count requirement from a per-country basis to a per-region basis in order to make accounts “less susceptible to spam and more equitable across geographies.”
Twitter will also give users the option to submit their demographic info after completing a verification application in order to prevent bias in account analysis and keep the service fair for all.
A complete account will now only need a profile image, a display name, and either a verified email or phone number. You must have logged into the account in the last six months and The account must not have had a 12-hour or 7-day lockout for violating the Twitter Rules in the past six months (excluding successful appeals).
Twitter says that there will be more categories for verified accounts, like “academics, scientists and religious leaders.” categories. Twitter had initially highlighted the types of accounts that will qualify for verification:- Government, companies, brands, and non-profits, news organizations and journalists, entertainment, Sports, activists, organizers, and other influential individuals.
