It’s a bad day for the modding community as the popular modded version of the YouTube app, YouTube Vanced that added features like ad blocking, background playback, and many more without charging users like YouTube’s Premium tier has been officially shut down.
The popular third-party YouTube app for Android had recently gained a lot of traction for bringing back dislike counts in videos just as Google removed them from their service.
The developers behind the app announced Sunday in the app’s official Telegram channel and on the Vanced Twitter account that it will be discontinued. No clear reason was given but it’s likely due to Google’s legal department.
Vanced has been discontinued. In the coming days, the download links on the website will be taken down. We know this is not something you wanted to hear but it's something we need to do. Thank you all for supporting us over the years.

YouTube has been cracking down on third-party apps, just recently shut down popular Rythm and Groovy Discord music bots which allowed users to stream music to their servers.
Let’s mourn YouTube Vanced, it will be missed. It won’t be updated anymore, but you can still get the last version. Do it quickly, though — the download links will soon be gone.
