DigiTax Brings Kenyan Tax Compliance Expertise to Zambia

DigiTax, a leading Kenyan eTims tax compliance solution owned by Namiri Technology, has officially launched its operations in Zambia. This strategic move comes in response to the country’s recent adoption of electronic invoicing regulations, which aim to enhance tax compliance and boost revenue collection.

To spearhead its Zambian operations, DigiTax has appointed Gilbert Lungu as Country Manager. Lungu brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications and fintech sectors, having held key positions at MTN Business Zambia, Airtel Zambia, Cellulant Zambia, and Hobbiton Technologies Limited.

The new Zambian government regulations, part of the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act No. 27 of 2023, mandate the use of Smart Invoices for all businesses starting from July 1, 2024. The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has introduced a software-based solution to oversee the electronic management of invoices and inventory data, ensuring direct transmission of information to the tax authority.

DigiTax offers a comprehensive solution that seamlessly integrates with existing business management systems, providing an intuitive dashboard for users and ensuring full compliance with ZRA regulations. The platform is designed to help Zambian businesses meet the new e-invoicing requirements efficiently and effectively.

As Zambia joins the growing number of African countries adopting electronic invoicing, DigiTax’s presence in the country is a significant step towards enhancing tax efficiency and transparency. The company will compete with other ZRA-approved software vendors, such as Zamcube ERP Solution, ISHYGA, and EBIZFRAME, to provide businesses with robust solutions for Smart Invoice integration.

Question: What are the potential challenges that DigiTax may face as it expands its operations in Zambia, and how can these challenges be addressed?
