Android 14 Developer Preview is Live

Window Size Classes, Sliding Pane Layout, and More

Google has listed several new features in Android 14 that will help developers build apps optimized for different screen sizes. These features include window size classes, sliding pane layout, Activity embedding, and box with constraints, among others.

Android 14 Schedule

The schedule for Android 14 is similar to that of Android 13. Google will release Developer Previews in February and March, with beta releases coming from April through June. The platform is expected to reach stability in June and July, with the final release expected sometime in August.

Availability of Android 14 Developer Preview

The Android 14 Developer Preview is available for the Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 4a (5G). Interested users can flash a system image onto a Pixel smartphone from the list to get started.
