ALX Ventures, a proven catalyst for tech-driven entrepreneurship across Africa, has arrived in South Africa. The program’s launch has been met with enthusiasm, with over 1,300 applications flooding in, highlighting the thirst for funding and development among South Africa’s budding tech talent.
Already launched in two other African markets, Lagos and Rwanda, the first cohort in SA starts this month
What is ALX Ventures?
ALX Ventures is more than just an incubator. It provides early-stage startups with a comprehensive support package that combines:
- Venture Funding: Access to capital to launch and scale promising ideas.
- Skills Development: Tailored programs to hone both technical expertise and essential “soft skills” like leadership and adaptability.
- Mentorship: Guidance from experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts.
ALX Ventures targets young South Africans (ages 18-34) with innovative tech-based business ideas. The program offers both fully online courses and the option for in-person learning at tech hubs in Johannesburg.
Courses take place across three pathways – The Founder Academy, The Accelerator Programme, and the Venture Capital Fund – that will run in succession.
- Founder Academy Programme – A three-month curriculum that focuses on building and launching a startup.
- Accelerator Programme – A highly selective three-month program offering investor readiness support and initial in-kind investment in the form of legal, product, and marketing support.
- Venture Capital Fund – Co-investment, advisory support, and ongoing access to the ALX ecosystem platform and community, The FutureList.
