Twitter has silently removed the login requirement for viewing tweets, days after it was first enforced. This means that you can now open Twitter links in a browser without an account.
This also means that embedded tweets now work without any hitches.
The company hasn’t made any official announcement about the change, but it comes after Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, said that he was taking “temporary emergency measures” to prevent data scraping.
“Temporary emergency measure. We were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading service for normal users!” Musk tweeted.
Data scraping is the process of automatically collecting data from websites. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as tracking user activity or building marketing lists.

Musk has said that he wants to make Twitter a more open and transparent platform. He has also said that he is concerned about the amount of data that is being scraped from the platform.
Other Changes Made by Twitter
In addition to removing the login requirement for viewing tweets, Twitter had also made a few other changes in recent days.
The company had imposed read limits of tweets per day for unverified and verified users. “To ensure the authenticity of our user base we must take extreme measures to remove spam and bots from our platform. That’s why we temporarily limited usage so we could detect and eliminate bots and other bad actors that are harming the platform. Any advance notice of these actions would have allowed bad actors to alter their behavior to evade detection.” Twitter stated.
