Top 10 Games to Look Out For in 2022

If you’re a gaming enthusiast like me, you have a lot of titles to look forward to in 2022 — and DLCs —. While the list of games getting released every year is convoluted, here are 5 games I think you should be on the lookout for in 2022.

  1. Elden Ring

Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As Tarnished — exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring’s grace and are summoned back after the Shattering — players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.

Elden Ring was released on 25 February on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and PC.

2. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is set in a dark fantasy interpretation of the setting for the original Final Fantasy game, with a group of people drawn into it from another world. The main character is Jack Garland, a man consumed by a need to destroy Chaos. In this case.

Stranger of Paradise is an action role-playing game in which players explore environments and fight monsters of the Final Fantasy series. Combat takes place in real-time, with Jack being able to switch between two assigned jobs and use physical and magical attacks. Once an enemy’s “break gauge” is depleted, Jack can perform a finishing blow that crystallizes the enemy, allowing Jack to harvest them and restore a portion of his magic meter.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will release on 18 March on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and PC.

3. Ghostwire: Tokyo

The city of Tokyo is a ghost town, literally. Every living resident has vanished, leaving a deserted metropolis occupied by spectral beings that answer to an evil entity.

Mastering powerful abilities along the way, players get to explore the dark alleyways, abandoned temples, and neon-lit downtown streets, while trying to work out how to save the city and its inhabitants before it’s too late.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will release on 25 March on PlayStation 5 and PC.

4. Starfield

From the creators of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises comes a game that takes you to the stars and beyond.

Starfield lets create your dream spacefarer, donning a spacesuit and stepping aboard one of many rocket ships to explore the constellations, coming across colourful characters and the residents of the Settled Systems, all part of an epic quest to uncover humanity’s greatest secrets.

Starfield will release on 11 November on Xbox Series S/X and PC.

5. Gotham Knights

Bruce Wayne, the Batman, is dead. The streets of Gotham are in need of a saviour, and not just one, but four have stepped to take over the Bat’s duties.

Developed by WB Games, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins, Gotham Knights lets players assume the role of Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood, with each character offering their own unique combat and playstyle, to work together to protect the city, while also trying to solve a mystery that permeates its underbelly.

Gotham Knights will release in 2022 on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, and PC.

6. Evil Dead: The Game

Evil Dead: The Game is an upcoming survival horror video game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Boss Team Games, and based on the Evil Dead franchise.

The game will feature both co-operative gameplay and player versus player (PvP) combat, as well as skill tree mechanics. It will also feature multiple maps, including the cabin in the woods from the Evil Dead film series, along with over 25 weapons, including Ash’s chainsaw and boomstick.

Evil Dead: The Game is set to be released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on May 13, 2022

7. Saints Row

Saints Row is set in the fictional city of Santo Ileso, based in the American southwest. Santo Ileso is currently under the control of three criminal gangs: Los Panteros, a gritty vehicle and fitness-oriented gang; the Idols, an anarchist gang focused on clubs and nightlife; and Marshall Defense Industries, an international private military corporation based in Santo Ileso that is known for advanced high tech weaponry.

The player-character, “The Boss”, a former member of Marshall Defense Industries assembles a new gang from dissatisfied members of these gangs and seizes power from them. These new members include: Neenah, a mechanic formally with Los Panteros and serve as the gang’s driver; Kevin, a DJ that was part of the Idols and handles the execution of their heists; and Eli, a business entrepreneur with an MBA that now plans the Boss’s gang’s activities

8. ST.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is a next-gen sequel to the award-winning PC game franchise developed by GSC Game World, set to deliver a unique action experience of survival in the post-apocalyptic Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

9. God of War: Ragnarok

Taking place three years after the events of the previous game, Fimbulwinter, a great winter that spanned three summers, is drawing to a close. It is prophesied that Ragnarök will begin once Fimbulwinter comes to an end. A now teenaged Atreus, curious and confused by the revelations of the previous game, seeks the answers to questions about his newfound identity, as well as a way to prevent Ragnarök from happening. To uncover the truth, Kratos and Atreus must set out to find their needed answers. In doing so, they come in contact with the previously believed to be dead, the Norse God of War, Týr. Whilst traversing the nine realms, the duo must face new threats. Hoping to exact their revenge, Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, and Freya, their former friend, and ally, now pose as serious threats to the duo

10. A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Requiem is the surprise sequel to the original A Plague Tale: Innocence that released in 2019. You’ll be following the same two heroes, Amicia and her younger brother Hugo, who will have to do whatever it takes to survive in the game’s brutal world. Rats will still be a huge problem, but there is more here than just a literal sea of rats to be worried about.

Bonus: Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, one of all-time standout PlayStation exclusives, alongside God of WarUncharted, and Ghost of Tsushima. Forbidden West might just be the best-looking console game out there, with remarkable graphics, phenomenal boss fights, and a touching story.
