TikTok has officially announced the nominees for the 2025 TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa, setting the stage for one of the region’s biggest celebrations of digital creativity. The awards return on 6 December 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa, bringing together the creators, artists, and trendsetters who shaped African TikTok culture in 2025.
This year marked a major shift for the creator ecosystem. African creators stepped outside the predictable and transformed niche content into mainstream cultural moments from the viral “Ngishutheni” trend to agriculture education by Sinethemba Masinga (@ufarm_julia) and powerful history storytelling by Valerie Keter (@valerie_keter). In 2025, the community became influential, and TikTok creators led a new digital wave.
The TikTok Awards Sub-Saharan Africa will recognise outstanding talent across multiple categories, including entertainment, food, storytelling, music, sports, education, and social impact.
TikTok says the annual ceremony goes beyond trophies—it is a moment to honour the people driving the continent’s fast-growing creator economy.
“Our annual awards are a moment for reflection and celebration where we build deeper relationships with the people who power the continent. At its core, the TikTok Awards celebrate the vibrant community who continue to inspire creativity, build community and spread joy while turning their passions into prosperous careers,” said Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok’s Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa.
