Samsung Officially Unveils Galaxy Z Trifold

The rumors were true, and the wait is finally over. Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Trifold, a groundbreaking device that bridges the gap between smartphone and tablet like never before.

Announced today in South Korea, the Z Trifold (stylized as Z Tri-Fold) isn’t just another foldable—it is the first mainstream triple-folding device set to hit the global market. With a massive 10-inch screen that collapses into a standard phone size, Samsung is aggressively targeting the “all-in-one” device market, taking a direct shot at Huawei’s Mate XT.

Here is everything you need to know about the specs, features, and when you can get your hands on it.

The headline feature is, of course, the display. When fully unfolded, the Galaxy Z Trifold offers a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2160 x 1584. To put that in perspective, that is larger than an iPad Mini and rivals many compact laptops.

Crucially, Samsung has achieved this while keeping the device impossibly thin. The Trifold measures just 3.9mm when unfolded, making it one of the thinnest computing devices ever made.

• Cover Screen: When folded shut, you get a familiar 6.5-inch cover screen (2520 x 1080) with a 120Hz refresh rate, so it functions exactly like a standard flagship phone.

• Multitasking: The 10-inch canvas is designed for power users. The new One UI interface supports three full-sized apps running side-by-side, or a desktop-class DeX experience directly on the screen.

“Armor FlexHinge” & Durability

The biggest concern with foldables is always durability, especially with two hinges instead of one. Samsung has introduced a new Titanium “Armor FlexHinge” system.

This dual-hinge mechanism allows the device to fold in a “Z” shape—one part folds in, the other folds out. Despite the moving parts, Samsung has secured an IP48 rating, meaning the device is protected against solid objects (like wires) and splashing water, a significant engineering feat for a trifold design.

Performance: Snapdragon 8 Elite & Massive Battery

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Trifold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. This is an overclocked version of Qualcomm’s top-tier chip, specifically optimized to handle the thermal demands of such a thin chassis while driving 120Hz across a 10-inch panel.

Powering this beast is a 5,600mAh battery, split across the three panels to maintain balance. This is a significant step up from the ~4,400mAh batteries seen in standard foldables, ensuring the larger screen doesn’t kill the device by noon.

Cameras: Finally, Ultra Specs

For the first time in the Z series, users won’t have to compromise on cameras. Samsung has equipped the Trifold with a 200MP main sensor, likely the same ISOCELL sensor found in the S25 Ultra.

• Main: 200MP

• Ultrawide: 12MP

• Telephoto: 10MP (3x Optical Zoom)

This addresses the long-standing complaint that foldables offer “good enough” cameras rather than “best-in-class” photography.

Release Date & Availability

Samsung has confirmed a staggered release schedule:

• South Korea: Launches December 12, 2025.

• Global (US/Europe): Coming Q1 2026.

While pricing has not been officially confirmed for the global market, industry analysts expect it to land in the premium tier, likely between $2,600 and $2,900.
