Samsung has announced the One UI 5 Watch update, and it’s coming to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 later this year. It is expected that this update will be based on Wear OS 4, as Samsung aims to provide a great smartwatch experience.
Samsung has been working hard to improve the One UI Watch experience, and with the One UI 5 Watch update, they have introduced new features that will enhance the overall user experience.
Better Sleep Management
One of the most significant features of the One UI 5 Watch update is better sleep management. The watch will be able to recognize sleep patterns using the Sleep Insights UI, which will display the user’s sleep score and insights into how they slept the night before. Users will also receive metrics on snoring hours, blood oxygen levels, and different sleep phases.
Moreover, the One UI 5 Watch update will bring Sleep Coaching, which users can turn on from their watch without the need to be connected to their device. Users will also receive tips for better sleep, which is something that would help people have healthier, proper sleep.
Making Fitness Capabilities Better Than Before
Another improvement that comes with the One UI 5 Watch update is better fitness features. Samsung wants to make the Galaxy Watch a better companion for users by offering the ability to measure their cardiorespiratory capacity and personalized heart rate intervals based on aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. The watch will provide five different zones determining where the user’s heart rate should be. These zones start with a warm-up, fat burn, cardio, hard training, and maximum effort.
In addition to that, with the One UI 5 Watch update, users will be able to access GPX (GPS Exchange Format) files on their Galaxy Watch 5, which will give them a better understanding of routes when it comes to running and walking.
Better Safety Features
Safety features have become increasingly important for smartwatch users, and with the One UI 5 Watch update, Samsung is looking to improve these features. For instance, the emergency SOS feature is now improved and can connect users to an emergency number. In an emergency, users can press the home button five times in a row to connect the call.
Moreover, users can register their medical information within the Galaxy Watch, allowing direct access to all medical information. Lastly, fall detection will also be coming to the Galaxy Watch and can be enabled in the settings. For users who are 55 years old and above, it will be turned on by default.
Beta Release
Samsung has announced that the One UI 5 Watch update will be available as a beta for Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 users through the Members app. While the release date has not been announced yet, it is expected to arrive in the second half of this year.
