Safaricom, Kenya’s largest mobile network operator, has announced a price reduction of nearly 40% on Huawei and Adrian fourth-generation (4G) Wi-Fi routers. The move is aimed at increasing home internet connectivity in the country, enabling customers to access faster internet speeds at more affordable prices.
Safaricom has cut the prices of its 4G Wi-Fi routers by nearly half. Customers can now purchase Huawei routers for Sh6,999 instead of the previous Sh10,999, and Adrian routers for Sh9,999 instead of the previous Sh5,999. The routers come with 30 GB of free data for 30 days.
“This end month, jibambe na 4G Wi-Fi! Enjoy a 40% price drop on Safaricom 4G Wi-Fi routers and indulge in the online experiences you love,” Safaricom said on its Facebook page.
Customers can purchase the routers directly from the MySafaricom app, Safaricom shops, or dealers, as well as through a USSD code. Safaricom is making it easier for customers to access the routers to increase home internet connectivity in the country.
Just last year, Safaricom rolled out 5G networks in five counties, enabling customers to access even faster internet speeds. The areas covered by 5G include Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisii, Kakamega, and Kisumu. Safaricom currently has 35 active 5G sites in these counties.
A few weeks ago, the telco then started offering 5G data packages for mobile internet customers that will allow customers to access the internet at even faster speeds. The company is also looking to leverage the Lipa Mdogo Mdogo device-financing solution to make more affordable 5G smartphones available to customers.
