MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9400+, an enhanced version of its flagship Dimensity 9400 mobile chipset. Following its strategy of releasing mid-cycle refreshes, the 9400+ leverages TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process (N3E) to offer iterative improvements in performance and AI capabilities while maintaining an “all performance core” CPU design.
Smartphones powered by the new Dimensity 9400+ are expected to arrive in the market during the second quarter of 2025. The chipset provides a modest speed bump compared to its predecessor. Its CPU configuration features:
- One high-performance ARM Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz.
- Three ARM Cortex-X4 cores running at 3.30GHz.
- Four ARM Cortex-A720 cores operating at 2.40GHz.
The graphics are handled by the returning 12-core ARM Immortalis GPU, which supports ray tracing. The design notably omits lower-power efficiency cores, relying on the advanced 3nm process for power management.

Artificial intelligence capabilities see a boost with MediaTek’s 890 NPU (Neural Processing Unit), which delivers up to a 20 percent performance increase in AI tasks compared to the previous generation. The chipset supports on-device Generative AI and Agentic AI functionalities and comes with out-of-the-box support for the DeepSeek R1 AI model.
Other specifications include support for fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, Wi-Fi 7 Tri-band connectivity (up to 7.3Gbps), and Bluetooth 6.0. The chip can drive WQHD+ resolution displays at up to a 180Hz refresh rate. For imaging, it supports a single camera sensor up to 320 megapixels and can capture video up to 8K resolution at 60 frames per second. MediaTek’s Ultrasave 4.0 technology is also integrated for improved battery life.
While the Dimensity 9400+ offers refinements over the original 9400, MediaTek indicates that the next major leap will come later this year. The company encourages industry watchers and consumers to anticipate the arrival of the Dimensity 9500, which is slated for launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
