ISACA Kenya Launches Ksh 58M Tech Skills Program for 250 TVET Graduates

ISACA Kenya Chapter has unveiled a comprehensive technology training initiative worth Ksh 58 million, targeting 250 recent graduates from technical vocational education and training (TVET) institutions. The 18-month program will focus on developing skills in cybersecurity, data protection, blockchain technologies, and artificial intelligence.

The initiative, funded primarily through a Ksh 48 million grant from AUDA-NEPAD with an additional Ksh 9.5 million from partnering organizations, aims to address the significant skills gap in Kenya’s technology sector. The program, known as IGNITE (Inspiring Growth and Nurturing Innovation through Technology Empowerment), will be implemented across three TVET institutions: Sigalagala National Polytechnic, Kabete Technical Training Institute, and Pwani TVET.

ISACA Kenya Chapter President Mercy Omollo emphasized the program’s transformative potential: “We are excited to be at the forefront of a transformative project that will shape Kenya’s future in the digital economy.” The initiative includes training for 20 instructors from the participating institutions, ensuring sustainable knowledge transfer.

Brencil Kaimba, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy at Scratch and Script, highlighted the program’s broader impact: “Our partnership will equip students and educators with the tools to excel in the digital economy, creating outcomes that benefit not only the youth and TVET institutions but also employers seeking a skilled and future-ready workforce.”

The Africa Blockchain Institute (ABI), another key partner in the initiative, aims to strengthen Africa’s digital economy through the program. ABI Director Timileyin Arowosola stressed the importance of fostering innovation and building a strong foundation in blockchain technology for future African leaders.
