Apple’s future iPhone 17 Pro models may include a dual video recording feature, allowing users to capture video from the front and rear cameras simultaneously, according to recent leaks shared by tech commentator Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech. This feature, aimed particularly at vloggers and content creators, echoes functionality first introduced by Samsung over a decade ago.
Prosser suggests that both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, expected to be released in late 2026, will gain the ability to record a subject using the rear camera while simultaneously capturing the user’s reaction with the front camera. The user interface for this feature is rumored to resemble the current FaceTime interface on iPhones.
This camera leak comes alongside Prosser’s recent details about Apple’s next major software update, iOS 19, which is expected later this year. He claims iOS 19 will feature a new “glass-like” user interface inspired by Apple’s visionOS, along with rounded icons.
While the dual video recording capability was previously seen on Samsung devices like the Galaxy S4 and more recently the Galaxy S21 series onwards, Apple incorporating it natively into the iPhone’s stock Camera app could significantly appeal to content creators. Currently, similar simultaneous recording functionality is available on iPhones only through third-party applications like Snapchat.
It remains uncertain whether this rumored dual recording feature, if implemented, would be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models or potentially roll out to older compatible iPhones via a future software update.
The addition aligns with previous reports suggesting Apple intends to target the vlogging community more directly with its upcoming Pro iPhone models. If the leak proves accurate, this simultaneous front-and-back recording could be a key feature differentiating the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. As with all leaks regarding future products, these details are speculative until officially confirmed by Apple.
