Kenyans can now easily check, register, or resign from a political party online through the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) portal on eCitizen. This digital process helps promote transparency, giving citizens full control over their political affiliations.
How to Check Your Political Party Membership on eCitizen
-
Visit the official ORPP portal via orpp.ecitizen.go.ke.
-
Log in using your eCitizen account credentials. If you don’t have one, create an account using your ID number.
-
Once logged in, go to the section labeled “Political Party Membership Status.”
-
The system will display whether you are registered under any political party and show the party name.
This step is important for anyone unsure about their political party registration or those who suspect they may have been added to a party without their consent.

According to the Political Parties Act (2011), no Kenyan can be registered in more than one political party at the same time. The eCitizen portal makes it easier for citizens to verify their political status, join or leave parties, and prevent unauthorized registrations.
Digital tools like eCitizen and ORPP’s Integrated Political Parties Management System (IPPMS) also promote accountability, protect personal data, and enhance trust in the political process.
Important Tips
-
Always verify your political membership before registering with a new party.
-
Keep a copy or screenshot of your confirmation message or email for future reference.
-
Log out of eCitizen after completing the process, especially when using public or shared devices.

The introduction of political party management on eCitizen is a big step toward transparent and citizen-centered governance in Kenya. Whether you want to check, join, or resign from a political party, the process is now simpler, faster, and entirely online.
