Apple Releases iOS 17.0.3 Update to Fix iPhone 15 Overheating Issue

Apple has released a new software update, iOS 17.0.3, to address the overheating issue that has been affecting iPhone 15 users. The tech giant had previously acknowledged that some iPhone 15 and 15 Pro phones were overheating, with some users reporting their devices reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit even during minimal use.

The overheating issue was attributed to a bug in iOS 17 and certain third-party apps. Notably, an update to Instagram, version 302, was released on September 27th to address some of the issues.

The iOS 17.0.3 update “may” stop your iPhone 15 from getting so warm, according to Apple. The company stated in its release notes, “This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected”.

To download the update, users need to go to Settings > General > Software Update and click “Update Now” under iOS 17.0.3. It’s recommended that all users download the update not only for the potential fix to the overheating issue but also for the latest security updates.

Apple has reassured its customers that the overheating issue is not related to the new iPhone’s hardware. This should come as a relief to those who have recently upgraded to the iPhone 15 and experienced it overheating or being hot to the touch.

While there is no guarantee that the update will completely fix the overheating issue, it is a step in the right direction. As always, Apple is committed to improving its software and hardware based on user feedback and will continue to release updates as necessary.
