AI Powered Bing is Live, A New Era of Search Begins

Microsoft’s Bing is trending right now, this is After Microsoft on Tuesday announced that the frowned-upon search engine (given it won’t even index us)was incorporating OpenAI’s artificial intelligence technology.

According to the release, Bing will now include a new large language model that is “much more powerful” than ChatGPT and was built from the ground up to perform exceptionally well in search.

The search engine is built on top of a new Microsoft technology called the Prometheus Model. The tech giant says Prometheus is advantageous in that it produces more pertinent search results thus making it possible for search results to be updated more quickly and for people to use Bing in a safer way.

Other than the improved search capabilities, the new Bing now also features a built-in chat feature and a search bar that now accepts up to 1,000 characters.

Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer, Yusuf Mehdi, used Bing to make a comparison between the works of the most important Mexican artists and the most well-known paintings in a demo at the event.

The result from Bing was presented in a new panel to the side, annotated with information and links to external sites. In a later session, Mehdi requested that the search engine provide a detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of three different pet vacuums.

Mehdi mentioned that Bing could help with questions that did not have a clear answers. When Bing can’t provide an exact result for a search, it will still provide relevant links to check out.

Additionally, Microsoft will be incorporating a feedback button into the search engine for users to provide comments on the updated features. Mehdi compared it to having “Search with your own personal helper.”

You can use the generative features of OpenAI’s technology through the chat feature. For instance, Bing can help you plan out your next five days if you are going on a trip. The search engine’s results will point you in the direction of where to sleep, means of travel, and more.

Beginning today, anyone interested can get a sneak peek at the new Bing. Microsoft has stated that anyone can visit Bing.com to test out a few sample queries and sign up for the waitlist for the company. The Software giant plans to expand the preview to millions of users in the coming weeks. Likewise, a preview for mobile devices is on the way.
