Amazon has officially launched the Amazon Bazaar app in Nigeria, marking its entry into one of Africa’s largest and fastest-growing e-commerce markets. The new platform offers hundreds of thousands of affordable products across fashion, home, and lifestyle categories, with most items priced under ₦15,000.

The launch positions Amazon to compete directly with local players like Jumia and Konga, as it seeks to capture Nigeria’s rapidly expanding market of price-conscious online shoppers.

Expanding Amazon’s Affordable Shopping Footprint

Amazon Bazaar is part of the company’s global strategy to make online shopping more accessible and affordable. The app builds on the success of Amazon Haul, a similar low-cost shopping initiative launched in the U.S., U.K., and several other countries.

With Nigeria’s addition, Amazon Bazaar is now available in 14 new destinations, including Hong Kong, the Philippines, Kuwait, and Argentina.

According to Amazon, “Based on the positive response from customers using Amazon Haul in different markets, we’re excited to introduce this experience to even more shoppers worldwide.”

The new app is designed for value-driven consumers, offering items starting from as low as ₦3,000. Shoppers can also enjoy 50% off their first order, while all purchases above ₦30,000 qualify for free delivery. Standard shipping typically takes up to two weeks for smaller orders.

Blending Value with Interactive Shopping

Amazon Bazaar goes beyond just low prices. It introduces interactive shopping features such as daily deals, social lucky draws, and exclusive in-app promotions, blending entertainment with retail — a trend that’s gaining traction globally.

These gamified experiences encourage repeat engagement and reflect the broader move toward entertainment-driven e-commerce, already popular in Asia and Western markets.

Trusted Amazon Experience, Localized for Nigeria

While Amazon Bazaar focuses on affordability, it maintains the company’s hallmark of trust and reliability. Every product undergoes strict compliance and safety checks, ensuring quality and authenticity.

Shoppers can rely on Amazon’s familiar ratings and review system, and all returns are free within 15 days of receiving the order.

The app also supports six languages, including English and French, and allows shopping directly in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Payment options include Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, making it convenient for both local and international customers.

Nigeria’s e-commerce market continues to expand, driven by the rise of smartphone usage, improved internet access, and growing digital payments adoption.

By entering the market with Amazon Bazaar, the company aims to set new standards for reliability, affordability, and customer service, appealing especially to budget-conscious shoppers seeking trusted online platforms.

The move could reshape Nigeria’s e-commerce landscape, introducing global delivery standards and further stimulating competition among local and international players.

The Amazon Bazaar app is now available for download on iOS and Android devices in Nigeria.
