Google Chrome is rolling out several new productivity updates that make browsing, reading, and sharing across devices easier than ever. The latest features include a Read Aloud tool, cross-device tab groups, and enhanced mobile functions such as Google Lens search and password sharing.
Chrome’s new Read Aloud feature allows users to have web pages read aloud directly within the browser. As the text is read, words are highlighted in real time, helping readers follow along easily. The feature works best for news articles, blogs, and even PDFs.
To use it, simply right-click on a page and select “Open in reading mode.” This opens a side panel with playback controls. Users can click the Play button to start listening and customize their experience by adjusting the reading voice, speed, and highlight style.
Another major update is the expansion of Tab Groups across devices. Chrome users can now access their tab groups seamlessly, whether they are using a phone, tablet, or desktop. The feature syncs automatically once you are signed in, allowing you to start a project on one device and continue it on another.
To use tab groups on mobile, open your tabs and select the tab group section. On desktop, you can access your saved groups from the bookmarks bar or through the Chrome menu. This update ensures that research sessions, work projects, and reading lists stay organized no matter where you log in.

On mobile, Chrome has also integrated Google Lens directly into the browser. Users on iOS can tap the Lens camera icon in the address bar, then draw or highlight anything on a webpage to search instantly without switching tabs. On Android, Chrome supports Circle to Search, allowing users to search what they see on the screen across any app.

Finally, Chrome now lets you securely share passwords with family members through Google Password Manager on your phone. On both Android and iOS, users can open Chrome’s password settings, select a saved login, and share it with approved family members in their Google Family Group.
These updates continue Google’s focus on blending convenience, productivity, and security across devices. With read-aloud functionality, synchronized tab groups, visual search, and password sharing, Chrome is positioning itself as a smarter companion for both casual users and professionals on the go.
